Barracuda Yacht Design 42m classic ketch

Barracuda Yacht Design 42m ketch developed in conjunction with Pendennis Shipyard

Madrid 1st July 2014: Developed in conjunction with the Pendennis Shipyard in the UK and inspired by the grace and stature of classic yachts from the first half of the 20th century, our 42m ketch design perfectly captures the romanticism of the period yet dispenses with excess baroque, in favour of painted surfaces, natural teak and sharp, modern details.

Utilising America’s Cup and racing yacht experience we have created soft, flat lines underneath for efficiency, combined with a wide transom for additional stability and an overall compliant ride.

From a design perspective, the challenge was to combine modern technology with classic appeal such that an efficient, water-ballasted hull with lifting centreboard will convey ten guests in speed and comfort at low angles of heel.

The sail plan comprises a fully battened main and mizzen with a self-tacking jib and overlapping Genoa. Downwind options for a Code-0 or furling Gennaker can be flown from the bowsprit.

A large, twin-bathroom owner’s suite plus symmetrical accommodation for 8x guests via 2x double and 2x twin cabins is unusual for a yacht of this size. All rooms benefit from large windows and luxurious appointments.

Dedicated living spaces include an enclosed deck saloon with 360° views, an external central lounge protected by fixed bimini and an aft-deck lounge, free of the movement of crew.
