2nd April 2014:  With just four weeks until the start of the 2nd edition of the Palma Superyacht Show (PSS), close to fifty participating superyachts ranging from 22m to47m length and twenty eight yacht-related exhibitorshave confirmed attendance so far.

There are forty yachts in the 22m to 35m category, three between 35m and 40m and six of 40m plus. Amongstthose signed so far, a welcome and fairly unusual finding will be the prospect of a nearly 50:50 sail to motor ratio.

The last few remaining spaces are still available, so late enquiries from yachts or exhibitors wishing to take part are advised to contact the organisers as soon as possible.

Once again taking place concurrently with Boat ShowPalma, PSS was considered a vibrant and successful hit by participants involved in last year’s inaugural event.

The start of this year’s Show on 30th April coincides with the popular 1st May public holiday period and participants and visitors alike can expect five days of rewarding business amidst the calm and pleasant surroundings of the Port of Palma de Mallorca at this time of year.

Exhibiting for the second year, Toni Salom, CEO of Palma based yacht repair & maintenance business, Nautipaints, said:“Palma is one of the most dynamic and competitive yachting tourist destinations in Europe, so it’s only right that a well organised Superyacht show should be based here and we’re proud to be part of it!”

Comprising four deep water quays with stand space allocated all around, this year’s PSS benefits from a number of organisational improvements. A recently signed partnership agreement with MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association, for example, will ensure mooring fees for yachts in the Show remain at fair and reasonable rates.

Looking her early season best, the largest yacht attending so far will be the 47m Heesen ‘Let it Be’, built in 2007 and being offered for sale by Jamie Small, Burgess’ Palma office, who said: “An excellent example of the Northern European pedigree that presents in first class condition; LET IT BE  as recently completed her Lloyd’s 5 year survey and is ready in all respects for a new owner!”

Complimenting the floating exhibits, several companies have chosen PSS as an ideal marketing opportunity to launch new products and services.

Announcing new superyacht medical kits and yacht crew training programmes, Nick Stael von Holstein, European Sales Manager, Medical Support Offshore Ltd, said: “As suppliers to mainly the extreme ‘Round the World’ style events, such as Volvo Ocean and Clipper, we have now stepped up our MCA approved kits to meet every possible medical requirement for superyachts with 24/7 tele-medical support and training courses included. As first time participants at the Palma Superyacht Show this gives us the ideal opportunity to launch our new business model to an ideal target market.”

Additionally this year, PSS will see much better use of the main hospitality / marquee area, where renowned Mallorcan restaurateurs and event catering specialists, Fosh Food, will be offering visitors a ‘Spanish / Provençal’ influenced menu at under 30€ per head.

PSS admission will be either via a guest pass or by public entrance with a fee payable on the day. Visitors can enter via a dedicated PSS entrance or can use their guest passes at the Boat Show Palma entrance and walk through to the Superyacht Show. Opening times are 11:00 to 20:00 Hours, with an extended opening Sea Night planned for Friday 2nd of May, 11:00 to 23:00 Hours.
